could you make a build with the rtmp module?

Miuku wrote over 1 year ago

Hi, would you like the "official" one (Arut's latest github version) or one with the forks that have somewhat modified and added to the original code?

Arut hasn't made many changes in the last few years to the code and at least if you need Dash, it might have issues. HLS works great though.

Hello Thank you for that quick reply. I am not too familiar with either of those. But after a quick read I think Dash is the basic I would need. I want to do stream with OBS Studio to a nginx-rtmp server in order that clients go there and watch the stream. I guess I do not need multiple streaming speeds but just to push the stream to the clients. Great if you could help me here because I am not familiar here is OBS. Kind Regards, Zebulon

I guess that if HLS is more likely to work or easier to build that is the way to go?

I've made a separate nginx-rtmp package and compiled it vs all supported versions. It uses Arut's NGINX RTMP module from https://github.com/arut/nginx-rtmp-module using the latest git checkout.

Please report any issues you run into there as I haven't had time to check it yet, changed the spec in like 60 seconds :p

Hello Thank YOU! I am impressed by the speed and your willingness to respond to my request.

I will download and test. Again. THANK YOU!

I only did a quick test without hls and so far it works fine.

Using openSUSE 42.1

Great, remember that the RTMP module itself might have bugs in it that are not related to packaging so if you run into any, let me know and check Google for solutions too.

I'll keep it up to date with the latest stable revisions of nginx and prolly getting latest from Arut from time to time.

Still testing the basic rtmp stream. So far o.k. At the moment I would suggest to copy the stat.xsl file into the /srv/www/htdocs folder as well. I could not find it on the server and had to copy it from the source.

The nginx.conf file could also be a bit more prepared. But I guess that would not be a thing for you to figure out? If need be I could give a suggestion once I am through with my tests.

Again thank you. Greetings.

I can add the stat.xsl to the share/doc directory and let people copy it over if they want it - trying to avoid adding anything to htdocs unless absolutely necessary.

As for the nginx.conf, I'd rather leave it as it comes from upstream so as to allow people to configure it to their tastes without me feeling like I'm throwing in a configuration of my choice :)

If you can come up with a good template, I'll be happy to add it to the nginx-rtmp package as optional "suggested configuration" file.
