dbschemacmd can be used to normalize a database schema either fully automatically, half automatical or to check your own decompositions done by hand. The program features a full python interpreter. It is especially useful when there are different prime attributes and different keys being part of one or more relations or database tables. Note that a correct relational schema can not always be directly derived from an UML or EER diagram especially when there are additional functional dependencies which do not map (at all or at least easily) to the graphical primitives of the modelling language. In such a case your diagram will need proper textual annotation.
