Thanks for your repository (not just knode5, for all other rpms available, too) - though support for my currently installed system has been dropped all in a sudden. Is there any specific reason, why you have deactivated builds for Leap 42.1?

Wolfgang Bauer wolfi323 wrote about 1 year ago

Yes. The "official" KDE:Frameworks5 repo has been removed for 42.1 completely, so my packages don't make much sense any more. See also http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2017-02/msg00015.html .

If you want to have the latest Plasma5 and KDE Applications, you have to upgrade to 42.2. Sorry, but that wasn't my decision.

Thanks for your answer. I already had been supposing that you had to keep up with external influences, without having had an idea, where to have a look at.

Therefore: Many thanks for pointing me to the source of information (the MLyou mentioned) that may prevent me being hit be this kind of change completely unaware again. Especially because https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_repositories and https://de.opensuse.org/KDE_Repositorys still point to the now non-existent repositories.

Added gmane.linux.suse.kde to subscripted newsgroups.

BTW, there's a github repository of someone who tries to port knode to current KDE/Qt I thought you had been getting your sources for this package: https://github.com/d-graef/kdepim-noakonadi/commits/knode

Having been asked, the owner Detlef Gräf denied that your version was his one. So, as I thought knode was officially unmaintained, abandoned software - where did you get the updated code for knode5 from? I'd be interested in an updated version - though the filter section seems to be missing currently because of which I went back to version 4.14.10 after having had a look at knode5 ...

Yes, I know. Detlef Gräf actually contacted me yesterday... ;-)

The previous knode maintainer/developer actually did start to port knode to KF5/Qt5 after it had been dropped from KDEPIM. The sources are available in a personal scratch repo in KDE's git, and that's where I got them from. https://cgit.kde.org/clones/kdepim/otrichet/knode.git/ https://cgit.kde.org/scratch/otrichet/knode.git/

There hasn't been any work since December 2015 though.

And I had to do some (small) modifications to build it against the latest KDEPIM.

It more or less works, but isn't completely finished.

Haven't noticed the filter section, but the main thing missing is posting articles.

OK, so you're in touch now. Fine. Here's the prologue: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/de.comp.os.unix.apps.kde/RVuWloSU3hY/BRgrNagoCgAJ :-)

I know posters who would profit by this "feature". veg

Thanks for that link.

FYI, I do really like to see a (official) release of the KF5 port myself, and do consider offering my help and working on it too... (as time permits)

No promises (yet) from my side though.

Just one last comment; since I'm still on 42.1 I can not easily have a look if the following still applies:

Some of your packages (dolphin5 e.g.) had lead me into trouble opening files with spaces in their names. After some research, I found out that I had to adjust the corresponding .desktop file in /opt/kf5/share/applications/ - %u had to be surrounded by quotation marks.

Wolfgang Bauer wolfi323 wrote about 1 year ago

I "fixed" that recently, by removing my "hack" to call the kf5.sh script in the Exec lines. See https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/523319-KF5-file-associations-fail-with-spaces-in-file-names

Of course you will not get that any more as I don't build for 42.1... :-(

Andreas Kilgus akilgus wrote about 1 year ago

Thanks for the link. For the time being I'm stuck on 42.1 for several reasons - if I'm running in "hack"-based trouble again, I'm going to have a closer look at your new solution and might try to bačkport it for my local installation at least partly.
