ok - then I think we should be fine - but I'd certainly add some comment header to the patch explaining what it does, what the replaced values mean - so that any random community contributor will have the information at hand what exactly is happening here...

the way the patch is now, there is a very high chance it won't be understood - and non-understood patches tend to be dropped, especially when no direct effect of something breaking can be seen.
