Buildfailure seems to be related to ssl changes, not these changes
Yes, it's related to ssl changes. First I need to update the package to the latest version and fix Java dependency to <= 1.8 (build fails with 1.9, will report it upstream).
And a question: does your patch work only on Tumbleweed or also on Leap / SLES 12?
The fillupdir only changes on Tumbleweed/Leap 15/SLE 15
The compat macro is there to make sure it doesn't break earlier versions, as you can see it's building fine on Leap 42.x
Created https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/546507 which updates syslog-ng to version 3.12.1 and also includes your fixes.
