As I said, I don't consider this a bug.
What was the "confusing error"? is there an upstream bug report?

I did not report anything as it is resolved by installing cmake which I automatized with this submit request.
Then please do and add it in the changelog entry. If the message is confusing for users, it has to be fixed.
