thers's is_opensuse in DisNOHPC. What kind of differences between opensuse and SLE does this introduce? Looks like the :serial subpackage now requires a different hdf version. @eeich
Yes, the non-HPC flavors use a different hdf5 version for backward compatibility with programs that have been using netcdf before. On SLE we do not have the older version of hdf5 in the build system. But there we do not care about the non-HPC versions at all: they've never been packaged. Thus we do not build these versions for SLE any more. The issue about hdf5: the new version is backward compatible. However, software using netcdf built against the new version produces files that cannot be read in by the same software built with the older version. This seems to be what many distros do. Please contact @adrianSUSE for details.
complicated :/ so we have to put hdf5-1_8 in rings
As I said, for HPC this is not relevant. I need the latest version of HDF5 there. However, I do understand the reasoning behind the request for HDF5 v1.8 - it seems to come mainly from the FreeCAD people. Now, since FreeCAD has made a new release where - according to Adrian - nothing has remained untouched, they could have prescribed a newer version of HDF5 - this should have been backward compatible and allowed to read in the old files but people still using the old version would be forced to upgrade to read files generated with the new one. This is something @adrianSUSE may be able to comment on.
science/netcdf@804898912076c382f3ada0cc38c8e5cc -> openSUSE:Leap:15.0/netcdf
expected origin is 'SUSE:SLE-15:GA' (changed)
found package in openSUSE:Leap:15.0:SLE-workarounds
sr#597788 to openSUSE:Factory has different sources
Comment
(at)leaper override accept
to force accept.the submitted sources are NOT in Factory
imho, the same source as submitted to oS:F should be submitted to Leap too; there is currently a small diff https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/science/netcdf?linkrev=base&rev=57
(rev56 is what was submitted to Leap)
I've submitted a new version now.
