Accepting into devel project since we are not finding a better solution despite long search and too late for attempting a rollback... Guillaume will need to keep an eye on the linked Contrib projects after future SRs to ensure they don't silently end up as "Broken" after adding new _multibuild targets. Another avenue will be to clean up arm-trusted-firmware for submission to Factory so that we can reduce the number of Contrib projects needed.
I had started cleaning up Contrib packages linking against :staging/u-boot and found some getting excluded after adding <patches><delete name="_multibuild"/></patches> (Contrib:Zynq:*).
I guess _mutlibuild file should be adjusted there?

No, but the question is who takes care of it. ;-) You may not have noticed that packages in devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib (linked from hardware:boot:staging/u-boot) are also maintained by @a_faerber, so if you want to help him, you'll have to start by creating submit requests which convert those packages to _multibuild.
I cleaned-up links in devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:* so we should be good now. We just need to remove linked packages (u-boot-) in hardware:boot *before accepting this request.
No, you did precisely what I said would NOT be good! Your diff will break when new packages get added by me and others, resulting in "Broken" package state that no one gets email notifications about. By contrast, deleting _multibuild file can be done in a _link that will not break (no branch diff needed). We need a solution for building a working, e.g., u-boot-pine64, without creating even more work by requiring to maintain dozens of fragile branches.
There is no other alternative right now. (I asked Adrian S.) There are not many links, so we (or I) could take care of updating them on upgrade, if diff breaks.
