No, that request just fixes the wrong usage of update-alternatives. After closer look I came to the conclusion that using update-alternatives is not the right way forward though. So removed it.

mandoc already conflicts with man and groff. So there is no need for update-alternatives at all and we can also conflict with makewhat just fine. update-alternatives just makes things complicated and does not actually work in this case as the man page for man is not actually in the man package. Since it's unlikely that one wants to have two man implementations in the same system and switch back and forth the whole situation can be simplified by just using conflicts.

I don't understand this. PLease at least rebase on the mentioned request, but still I don't understand how conflicting with makewhat resolves issue with mandoc conflicting on all those manapages (which are not carried in by makewhat).
