The pull-in of pcre2 is really nasty - as this would mean to enhance the bootstrap cycle further.

We use fdupes in a fully automatic way in our builds - thus the ncurses UI is rather irrelevant to us (for build); it would be better to disable the curses ui (and thus the ncurses-devel and pcre2-devel build requires)

obviously, nothing is 'just as easy' as it seems; configure --without-ncurses still wants to find curses.h: due to https://github.com/adrianlopezroche/fdupes/issues/143

and if that is fixed then the code runs into undefined wcwidth - which in turn comes from curses; this was simply never tested upstream :(
