[13:16] <fvogt> nsaenz: Does it make sense to install raspberrypi-eeprom in images by default? It doesn't do anything on its own, does it? So if manual intervention is needed to update the firmware, then the documentation could state that it has to be installed first

No, it does not do anything on its own. My intention here is to make life easier for users coming from Raspbian, where it's installed by default. Finding the right package might not be evident to everyone, especially as RPi is a learning platform, so I'd like to keep the friction as small as possible.
