Where does this string come from? Is this just some random data? If yes, why is e.g. "00000..." or "123456..." insufficient?

I just ran the code that creates it, if it is missing. was dd if=urandom | base64

And while at it, you can remove FAKE_BUILDDATE, compilers use SDE nowadays.
