Just so I can understand and for future references, we were using this macro to fix/add the
Categories
option in the desktop file, now we don't have to?Because upstream is still:
debatable i'd say
main reason: gnome-shell has no xdg menu layout - so the categories serve not much
BUT! if you enable gnome-shell classic there IS xdg menu structure - so we might actually still want to keep that stuff (also for other DEs, when the packages are installed)
Dumb question time: The gnome-shell classic you refer is without the "SLE Classic" extension?
yes, that's based on gnome-shell-extensions, and all the extensions and even the session desktop file comes from upstream:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell-extensions/-/tree/main/data
SLE-classic is mostly an addon / enhancement to gnome-classic
Thanks. I was just reassuring my knowledge.
