can we now go back to using "make check" for the profiling run rather than the custom shell script?

I tried 

    taskset 1 setarch -R make check CFLAGS="%{optflags} %{cflags_profile_generate}"

but then build fails:

[   87s] ../build-aux/test-driver: line 112: 30617 Segmentation fault      "$@" >> "$log_file" 2>&1
[   87s] FAIL: test-free
