Backing up only one computer is easily possible, too. Any streaming device can be used for writing the data to, usually this will be a tape device, but hard disks can be used, too. Writing backups is normally done sequentially; data is appended after the end of the previous backup regardless of restore operations issued on other tapes in the meantime. Features: - Client is authenticated before being allowed to perform backup - Access restriction for the streamer device -> security - Client-side per-file compression -> reliability - Data stream is written to tape in chunks -> fast finding of files - Tape position logging for each file - Tape capacity is fully used - Full/incremental backups - Raw partitions can be backed up - Client and server use buffering for maximal throughput %description server The afbackup server runs on the machine which offers storage (tape or sometimes hard drive) for backups on your network. Any machines running backup clients contact the server in regular intervals and send data to store on the backup medium. %description client The afbackup client needs to be installed on all machines which have data to back up. It is started either via remote control or using a local cron job, connects then to the server over the network and sends the data to be backed up. %prep %setup -q mkdir %{_builddir}/%{name}-%{version}/debian %__cp %SOURCE1 %{_builddir}/%{name}-%{version}/debian %__cp %SOURCE1 %{_builddir}/%{name}-%{version}/init.afbackup.in %build ./configure --prefix=%{_prefix} \ --without-prefixext \ --with-zlib \ --with-zlib-include=%{_includedir} \ --with-zlib-libdir=%{_libdir} \ --with-serverbindir=%{_sbindir} \ --with-serverlibdir=%{_libdir}/%{name} \ --with-serverconfdir=%{_sysconfdir}/%{name} \ --with-servervardir=%{_var}/lib/%{name}/server \ --with-servermandir=%{_mandir} \ --with-serverlogdir=%{_var}/log/%{name} \ --with-serverconf=server.conf \ --with-clientbindir=%{_sbindir} \ --with-clientlibdir=%{_libdir}/%{name} \ --with-clientconfdir=%{_sysconfdir}/%{name} \ --with-clientvardir=%{_var}/lib/%{name}/client \ --with-clientmandir=%{_mandir} \ --with-clientlogdir=%{_var}/log/%{name} \ --with-clientconf=client.conf \ --with-rexecdir=%{_sysconfdir}/%{name}/rexec \ --with-commondir=%{_libdir}/%{name} \ --with-commondatadir=%{_datadir} \ --with-commonshlibdir=%{_datadir}/%{name} \ --disable-threads \ # --with-des \ # --with-des-include=%{_includedir} \ # --with-des-libdir=%{_libdir} make all < debian/cryptkey %install test $RPM_BUILD_ROOT != / && rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT mkdir -p $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_var}/log/%{name} make install.client install.server \ SERVERBINDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sbindir} \ SERVERCONFDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{name} \ SERVERLIBDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{_libdir}/%{name} \ SERVERVARDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_var}/lib/%{name}/server \ SERVERMANDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_mandir} \ CLIENTBINDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sbindir} \ CLIENTCONFDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{name} \ CLIENTLIBDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{_libdir}/%{name} \ CLIENTVARDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_var}/lib/%{name}/client \ CLIENTMANDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_mandir} \ SERVERREXECDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{name}/rexec \ COMMONDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_libdir}/%{name} \ COMMONDATADIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_datadir} \ COMMONSHLIBDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_datadir}/%{name} \ SERVERINITDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT/etc/init.d make install.rexeclinks \ CLIENTBINDIR=%{_sbindir} \ SERVERREXECDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/%{name}/rexec \ ( cd $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/usr/sbin ; ln -sf ../../etc/init.d/afbackup rcafbackup ) %find_lang %name %clean test $RPM_BUILD_ROOT != / && rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT %pre server # Add the "backup" user /usr/sbin/groupadd -r backup 2>/dev/null || : /usr/sbin/useradd -c "Backup Server" -r -g backup \ -s /bin/false -r -d %{_var}/lib/%{name}/server backup 2> /dev/null || : %post server chown backup /dev/st0 /dev/nst0 if ! This way it's protected from removal on uninstall and silent replacement on update. * Wed May 15 2002 Gerd v. Egidy <egidy@deam.de> 3.3.7pl0-1 - upgrade to afbackup 3.3.6pl6 - fix patchlevel handling - rediffed symlink-patch * Thu May 31 2001 Gerd v. Egidy <egidy@deam.de> - upgrade to afbackup 3.3.3beta3 * Thu Dec 28 2000 Gerd v. Egidy <egidy@deam.de> - upgrade to afbackup 3.3 - require glibc-2.2 instead of using the no-64bit-patch * Fri Oct 20 2000 Gerd v. Egidy <egidy@deam.de> - started writing the RPM from scratch.
