File README.SUSE of Package cde
CDE does not follow the FHS standard as it is installed in /usr/dt, work is ongoing to allow installing CDE outside /usr/dt The program dtmail does not work. It will probably be retired together with rpc.ttdbserver and dtspcd in the 2.6.x release In order to work properly, the program calendar requires the xinetd service: systemctl enable --now xinetd If you need to use dtlogin as display manager enable it with: update-alternatives --set default-displaymanager /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/dtlogin systemctl restart display-manager If you need a X Desktop Environment setup with the minimum amount of disk space used, select at installation time the Server system role and then later run: zypper in cde systemctl set-default graphical.target systemctl enable --now rpcbind systemctl enable --now display-manager Install the package cde-extra in order to install all the programs for which CDE has predefined actions For customization suggestions check: https://sourceforge.net/p/cdesktopenv/wiki/CustomisingCDE/
