------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri May 5 13:05:44 UTC 2023 - Lars Vogdt <lars@linux-schulserver.de> + fixes in zypper_ps_restart: - use try-reload-or-restart - fix ordering for fail2ban ------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Jan 3 10:22:39 UTC 2023 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.4.1 - update to 2.4.1 + add dbus to the list of services that are ignored for a restart ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon Jan 2 19:26:55 UTC 2023 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.4 - update to 2.4 + introduce separate zypper_ps_restart script ------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Jan 18 21:05:26 UTC 2022 - lars@linux-schulserver.de -2.3 - update to 2.3 + only use --with-optional switch if the update type is not 'package' ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon May 17 14:27:47 UTC 2021 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.2 - update to 2.2: + A new option, that adds the '--with-optional' parameter when calling zypper to also install updates marked as optional. Please adjust the config variable INCLUDE_OPTIONAL in /etc/sysconfig/suse-online-update or run the script with the parameter -o. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed Apr 28 12:53:04 UTC 2021 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.1.1 - update to 2.1.1: + Introducing new feature: automatic service restart after an update A new option allows to restart services, that were affected by an update, automatically. Specific services can be excluded from this automatic restart (like udev), if they are known to cause problems. On the other hand, this feature results in more secure systems, as services that use updated libraries (for example) will be restarted automatically after an update. This happens currently not automatically - services are only restarted if their packages get updated. If a library (like ssl for example) that is used by the service gets updated, the running service still uses the old version until restarted. The options RESTART_SERVICES (default: no) and IGNORE_SERVICES_FROM_RESTART in /etc/sysconfig/suse-online-update are used to configure this feature. IGNORE_SERVICES_FROM_RESTART can contain a list of services (separated by whitespace) that are excluded from a restart. This is useful for services that are known to be problematic (like udev) or need to be handled in another way (like services that run in an HA setup). ------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri Jun 19 10:17:16 UTC 2020 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.0 - require hostname on newer openSUSE distributions (not installed per default any longer) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed Apr 17 14:05:09 UTC 2019 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 2.0 - update to 2.0 - added a new variable: ZYPPER_UPDATE_TYPE This allows to define the type that zypper should use to update. Possible types: patch, package, pattern, product, srcpackage Default: patch (as before) - check zypper exit codes and try to print a useful message at the end of an update run. Includes recursion in case zypper updated the update stack itself. - add debug option to commandline options - extended man page and usage output for new options - added _service file ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Jan 17 14:41:12 UTC 2019 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.9 - update to 1.9 - touch the logfile early, to see if we can write to it later - enable and start the timer directly, if the package is installed for the first time ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Jan 17 10:53:03 UTC 2019 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.8 - update to 1.8 + use service and timer files instead of cron for systemd distributions + provide a separate man page + provide usage information via '-h' option and some additional options + enhance error handling again if logfile could not be written - use systemd timer/service files on newer distributions ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed Jan 16 15:15:47 UTC 2019 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.7 - update to 1.7 + better error handling, if log file could not be written - update to 1.6: + split out cleanup part and make it optional + log errors from the permission run to the logfile + enhance the sysconfig files with two additional options: o RUN_CLEANUP : should cleanup run at all? o CLEANUP_USER : limit cleanup to files from this user + add legal header - run check (even if it is just very simple at the moment) - name the cron script suse.de-online-update => /etc/cron.daily/suse.de-online-update - add simple man page ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Nov 22 17:16:47 UTC 2018 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.4 - update to 1.4: + log error, if permissions could not be set - recommend permissions package - switch to github ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon Sep 10 17:56:39 UTC 2018 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.3 - update to 1.3: + introduce new FIX_PERMISSIONS variable to run the permission scripts (either chkstat or SuSEconfig) after the update ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon Jan 15 13:43:16 CET 2018 - lars@linux-schulserver.de - 1.2 - update to 1.2: + rename the package (and files) to suse-online-update ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Feb 26 09:13:10 UTC 2015 - lrupp@suse.de - 1.1 - fix TMPDIR != TMPFILE test in cleanup ------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Jul 22 13:13:44 CEST 2014 - ro@suse.de - 1.1 - fix license entry in specfile ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Feb 24 11:07:44 UTC 2013 - lrupp@suse.com - 1.1 - update to 1.1: + cleanup left overs from update checks in /tmp and /var/tmp ------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri Oct 30 20:22:12 CET 2009 - lrupp@suse.de - 1.0 - initial version 1.0
