Involved Projects and Packages
The Apache HTTP Server Project is an effort to develop and maintain an open-source, secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards.
This package was branched from openSUSE:11.3:Update:Test in order
to prepare/test updates...
GeoIP is a C library that enables the user to find the country that any
IP address or hostname originates from. It uses a file based database.
This database simply contains IP blocks as keys, and countries as
values. This database should be more complete and accurate than using
reverse DNS lookups.
MaxMind offers a service where you can have your database updated
automically each month.
SQL is the most popular database language in the world. MySQL is a
client/server implementation that consists of a server daemon (mysqld)
and many different client programs and libraries.
The main goals of MySQL are speed, robustness, and ease of use. MySQL
was originally developed because the developers at TcX needed an SQL
server that could handle very large databases an order of magnitude
faster than what any database vendor could offer them. They have now
been using MySQL since 1996 in an environment with more than 40
databases containing 10,000 tables, of which more than 500 have more
than 7 million rows. This is about 100 gigabytes of mission-critical
data.
The base upon which MySQL is built is a set of routines that have been
used in a highly demanding production environment for many years. While
MySQL is still in development, it already offers a rich and highly
useful function set.
The official way to pronounce MySQL is "My Ess Que Ell" (Not
MY-SEQUEL).
This package only contains the server-side programs.

Samba is a suite of programs that allows SMB/CIFS clients to use the
Unix file space, printers, and authentication subsystem.
The package named samba contains all programs that are needed to act as
a server. The binaries expect the configuration file to be found in
/etc/samba/smb.conf
For a more detailed description of Samba, check the samba-doc package
or the Samba.org Web page at http://www.Samba.org/
Please check http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba for general information on
Samba as part of SUSE Linux Enterprise or openSUSE products, links to
binary packages of the most current Samba version, and a bug reporting
how to.
