Involved Projects and Packages
This is the Base:System devel project. Its main purpose is to serve as development project for packages around the topic of the system base in the openSUSE:Factory distribution. If you want to participate you can contact us individually or use our mailinglist opensuse-factory@opensuse.org. Please report bugs to the respective bugowners as set.
Warning: This is not a backports project! Installing the packages here on an old distribution may cause severe breakage!
DO NOT ENABLE BUILDING FOR OLD DISTROS!
This package installs the basic directory structure of an openSUSE system. It also includes the home directories of system users.
Andreas Jaeger's home project - only a container to hold a couple of sub projects.
This is the second version of the GRUB (Grand Unified Bootloader),
a highly configurable and customizable bootloader with modular
architecture. It support rich scale of kernel formats, file systems,
computer architectures and hardware devices.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a development snapshot, and as such will not
replace grub if you install it, but will be merely added as another
kernel to your existing GRUB menu. Do not replace GRUB (grub package)
with it unless you know what are you doing. Refer to README.openSUSE
file that is part of this package's documentation for more information.
The GNU C Library provides the most important standard libraries used
by nearly all programs: the standard C library, the standard math
library, and the POSIX thread library. A system is not functional
without these libraries.
Libsocialweb is a personal social data server, that can interact with
social web services, like Flickr, Last.fm, Twitter and Vimeo.
This package provides API keys from openSUSE, for the web services
accessible with libsocialweb.

librelp is an easy to use library for the RELP protocol. RELP in turn provides
reliable event logging over the network (and consequently RELP stands for
Reliable Event Logging Protocol). RELP was initiated by Rainer Gerhards after
he was finally upset by the lossy nature of plain tcp syslog and wanted a cure
for all these dangling issues.
RELP (and hence) librelp assures that no message is lost, not even when
connections break and a peer becomes unavailable. The current version of RELP
has a minimal window of opportunity for message duplication after a session has
been broken due to network problems. In this case, a few messages may be
duplicated (a problem that also exists with plain tcp syslog). Future versions
of RELP will address this shortcoming.
Please note that RELP is a general-purpose, extensible logging protocol. Even
though it was designed to solve the urgent need of rsyslog-to-rsyslog
communication, RELP supports many more applications. Extensible command verbs
provide ample opportunity to extend the protocol without affecting existing
applications.
