The packages contained in this repository are a collection of tools that I personally find useful.
Many of them will hopefully find their way into more "official" repositories!
(Currently) experimental set of packages for Ada developers
This package is based on the package 'gcc45' from project 'openSUSE:Factory'.
The gcc45 package
XML/Ada is a set of modules that provide a simple manipulation of XML streams. It supports the whole XML 1.0 specifications, and can parse any file that follows this standard (including the contents of the DTD). It also provides support for a number of other standard associated with XML, like SAX, DOM, and XML Schemas. In addition, it includes a module to manipulate Unicode streams, since this is required by the XML standard.
This package is based on some of the fantastic work done by the Debian community at packaging AdaCore source
In producer mode kafkacat reads messages from stdin, delimited with a configurable delimiter (-D, defaults to newline), and produces them to the provided Kafka cluster (-b), topic (-t) and partition (-p).
In consumer mode kafkacat reads messages from a topic and partition and prints them to stdout using the configured message delimiter.
There's also support for the Kafka >=0.9 high-level balanced consumer, use the -G switch and provide a list of topics to join the group.
kafkacat also features a Metadata list (-L) mode to display the current state of the Kafka cluster and its topics and partitions.
kafkacat is fast and lightweight; statically linked it is no more than 150Kb.

dvtm brings the concept of tiling window management, popularized by X11-window managers like dwm to the console. As a console window manager it tries to make it easy to work with multiple console based programs like vim, mutt, cmus or irssi.
gmrun is a smaller lightweight substitute for grun or gnome-run
surf is a simple web browser based on WebKit/GTK+. It is able to display websites and follow links. It supports the XEmbed protocol which makes it possible to embed it in another application. Furthermore, one can point surf to another URI by setting its XProperties.
