Involved Projects and Packages
The OpenSSL Project is a collaborative effort to develop a robust,
commercial-grade, full-featured, and open source toolkit implementing
the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS
v1) protocols with full-strength cryptography. The project is managed
by a worldwide community of volunteers that use the Internet to
communicate, plan, and develop the OpenSSL toolkit and its related
documentation.
OpenSSL is a software library to be used in applications that need to
secure communications over computer networks against eavesdropping or
need to ascertain the identity of the party at the other end.
OpenSSL contains an implementation of the SSL and TLS protocols.

Fetchmail is a robust and well-documented remote mail retrieval and
forwarding utility intended to be used over on-demand TCP/IP links
(such as SLIP or PPP connections).
Fetchmail retrieves mail from remote mail servers and forwards it to
your local machine's delivery system, so it can be read by normal mail
user agents, such as mutt, elm, pine, (x)emacs/gnus, or mailx.
fetchmailconf, an interactive GUI configurator suitable for end-users,
is included in the fetchmailconf package.
VDE is an ethernet compliant virtual network that can be
spawned over a set of physical computer over the Internet.
VDE is part of virtualsquare project.
