x2go is an open source terminal server project offering a comprehensive "server based computing" solution. Combining the advantages of existing systems it features ease of use, performance and scalability. x2go provides you with access to your desktop as an individual as well as a corporate user - from within your own network and via the internet. x2go is not limited to any particular hardware, it supports a variety of devices and architectures. x2go is open source and open minded. The project also offers you a command line client for you to implement your own client applications and ideas. Like any open source project we welcome your support.

x2go is an open source terminal server project using parts of the NX libraries. It offers a PXE Bootenvironment including a Display Manager Mode, but also Desktop Clients for different Operating Systems. There is also a commandline client to intrgrate the protocoll into own applications. X2go is low bandwith capable and offers a Browser Plugin as an alternative for the installed clients. X2go provides access to the display, files, print jobs and sound of the remote computer using linux natove protocolls. Its possible to suspend sesions and to resume them on other devices. For authentification purpose, you can use pam modules and OpenPGP SmartCards. The project is used and supported by Linux4Afrika and Skolelinux. X2go can be used by anybody. The projects architecture is modular and can be installed with a tiny footprint and almost no configuration. It is is suitable for accessing virtual machines or to support machines or users via internet. Fully installed x2go offers load balancing and fail back features. As a feature of the last version x2go offers serverside XDMCP support and session sharing. X2go is developed using a debian environment, but packages for other distros are available.
