Involved Projects and Packages
A couple of packages for my favorite previously unpackaged software.
This package is based on the package 'alliance' from project 'home:dannori'.
Alliance is a complete set of free CAD tools and portable libraries for VLSI design. It includes a VHDL compiler and simulator, logic synthesis tools, and automatic place and route tools. A complete set of portable CMOS libraries is provided.
binchunker converts a CD image in a ".bin / .cue" format (sometimes ".raw / .cue") to a set of .iso and .cdr tracks. The bin/cue format is used by some popular non-Unix cd-writing software, but is not supported on most other CD burning programs. A lot of CD/VCD images distributed on the Internet are in BIN/CUE format, I've been told.
The goal of the CGAL Open Source Project is to provide easy access to efficient and reliable geometric algorithms in the form of a C++ library. CGAL is used in various areas needing geometric computation, such as: computer graphics, scientific visualization, computer aided design and modeling, geographic information systems, molecular biology, medical imaging, robotics and motion planning, mesh generation, numerical methods...
Elmer is an open source multiphysical simulation software developed by CSC. Elmer development was started 1995 in collaboration with Finnish Universities, research institutes and industry.
Elmer includes physical models of fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, electromagnetics, heat transfer and acoustics, for example. These are described by partial differential equations which Elmer solves by the Finite Element Method (FEM).

Qwt is an extension to the Qt GUI library from Troll Tech AS. The Qwt library
contains widgets and components which are primarily useful for technical and
scientifical purposes. It includes a 2-D plotting widget, different kinds of
sliders, and much more.
linSmith is a Smith Charting program, mainly designed for educational use. As such, there is an emphasis on capabilities that improve the 'showing the effect of'-style of operation.
Change pdf files to svg files.
eispice is a clone of the Berkley SPICE 3 Simulation Engine. It was originally targeted toward PCB level Signal Integrity Simulation; simulating IBIS model defined devices, transmission lines, and passive termination but the scope of the tool has been slowly expanding to include more general purpose circuit simulation features.
This package is based on the package 'python-numpy' from project 'Education'.
NumPy is a general-purpose array-processing package designed to
efficiently manipulate large multi-dimensional arrays of arbitrary
records without sacrificing too much speed for small multi-dimensional
arrays. NumPy is built on the Numeric code base and adds features
introduced by numarray as well as an extended C-API and the ability to
create arrays of arbitrary type.
This project provides a python interface for the GNU scientific library (gsl)
