Read Etexts is an alternative to the regular Read Activity which can read
Project Gutenberg plain text files, something Read currently cannot do. I see
it as a stopgap until Read itself can use this format. Plain text files are by
far the most popular Gutenberg format, and this Activity will allow the user
to read tens of thousands of free books in many languages.
Record is the basic rich-media capture activity for the laptop. It
lets you capture still images, video, and/or audio. It has a simple
interface and works in both laptop and ebook mode. An interface for
sharing pictures among multi XOs during a picture-taking session is
a hallmark of the Record activity
Slider Puzzle is a classic logic game that challenges a player to slide tiles
around to form a picture or pattern. This digital version provides a fun context
for learners to explore basic functions of the XO, learn problem solving skills,
and develop creative projects that reflect understanding of a topic
they are studying.

Story Builder is a graphical story constructor tool. Drag & drop a variety of characters (stamps) into a background, and create an imaginative scene. Simple word-processing capability is included to encourage and facilitate free-form creative writing and the saving of original stories. When finalized, users will also be able to add their own images (created with Paint, Camera, etc.) and share their stories via the mesh. This is a WorldWideWorkshop project.

Typing Turtle features a sequence of lessons designed to gradually introduce students to touch typing, teaching them a few keys at a time until they have mastered the entire keyboard.
Fun graphics, sounds and characters make for an entertaining experience. An on-screen keyboard with overlaid hand positions shows the correct way to press each key, encouraging good typing habits.
If Typing Turtle does not already contain lessons in your native language, a lesson builder script is included in the activity bundle, which creates keyboarding lessons from a dictionary file.
You can create a slideshow for View Slides by collecting image files in any combination of TIFF, GIF, PNG, JPG, and BMP formats. Name them so they are in sequence when the names are sorted alphanumerically. Then store them in a Zip archive. When viewed these images will be displayed to best fit on the screen in its current orientation. If you rotate the screen orientation the imaged will be resized to fit.
