@glaubitz: do you have any plans to continue maintaining this or is it abandoned permanently?

It's not abandoned. Updating to the latest version has just become much more difficult as upstream has made a lot of changes and added many more external dependencies. Also, they continue to use cmake incorrectly which increases the maintenance burden.
I have sorted out all the dependency issues and also got the new aws-crt-cpp to build, so I think I can give it another try.
Just updated to 1.10.5 as finally managed to sort out the remaining CMake issues.
Is there any documentation on how the CHANGELOG.git is created or where it is downloaded from?
