Install on Debian Stable like this:

wget -O- https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/devbeejohn/Debian_12/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/openbuildservice-devbeejohn-archive-keyring.gpg

sudo bash -c "echo 'deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/openbuildservice-devbeejohn-archive-keyring.gpg] https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/devbeejohn/Debian_12/ /' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/synapse.list"

sudo apt update
sudo apt install synapse=0.2.99.4+recoll0.1.1 # Important: Use the version number to get this package and not the one from your distribution

Adapt the last element of the path of the repo of those instructions to make it work for your Ubuntu release.
