I don't mind the split out of the vala packages (Even though it probably does not make much sense, vala is just a different language and so far we never split devel per languages; vala is not like python where the stuff is used at runtime).

I'd suggest to either:

  • Not split out the vala stuff (it is build time stuff only)
  • or at least have the devel package pull in the -vala package too: it seems strange having to require libosinfo-devel (for lib linking) and libosinfo-vala, just because my app is written in vala)

Just as a small sample set to support above statement:

> rpm -qf /usr/share/vala/vapi/* | uniq
libatasmart-devel-0.19-8.4.x86_64
evolution-data-server-devel-3.23.4-392.1.x86_64
libgck-devel-3.20.0-108.12.x86_64
libgee-devel-0.18.1-56.4.x86_64
gnome-games-3.22.0-9.135.x86_64
libgnome-keyring-devel-3.12.0-94.8.x86_64
libcanberra-devel-0.30-92.1.x86_64
evolution-data-server-devel-3.23.4-392.1.x86_64
libproxy-devel-0.4.14-186.2.x86_64
libsecret-devel-0.18.5-51.12.x86_64
libsoup-devel-2.57.1-259.1.x86_64
libgck-devel-3.20.0-108.12.x86_64
telepathy-glib-devel-0.24.1-186.7.x86_64

That's all inside -devel packages

I will update the spec file and merge in the vala stuff into the devel package.
