minor enhancement, if you change - %{_libdir}/.so. + %{_libdir}/.so.%{major} + %{_libdir}/.so.%{major}.*

you will notice soname changes in the future

Well, I'd prefer something like file %{buildroot}%{_libdir}/lib%{name}.so.%{major}* in the %install section, as this forces only the relevant shared object to the given major-number.
