the _lto_cflags change is totally bonkers, LTO memory requirements do not scale with number of threads.
The constraints change is not mentioned in the changelog
I seem to recall a while ago I tried to reduce memory use for building. The fact of it is that MAME is insanely large now.
Sorry, I'm rather busy with work so didn't register in mind to add to changelog.
LTO increases the memory use slightly, as it writes some temporary files to disk.
The thread limit is completely off - it is one link job, split between a variable number of threads. When you double the threads, each one gets a smaller chunk.
