I don't understand. Why "We need gcc >= 8 for Leap", when you require it for Tumbleweed? Do you really need gcc10-*, why doesn't gcc-* with some version constraint suffice?

scipy complains that it doesn't work with gcc version 7. The default on 15.5 is gcc 7. So I just set the version requirement. However on 15.5 there are several compiler versions available so I choose gcc 10.

gcc >= 8 doesn't work on Leap as gcc is 7 by default. You need to explicitly set a newer version.

yep, I see your point. Anyway, one little mistake remaining. In the requirements section there is %if 0%{?suse_version} >= 1550
, in %build %if (...) 0%{?suse_version} <= 1550
. One of the inequalities should be strict.

Does gcc13 or 12 also work?
Yes, it just needs to be newer than 8. I can a also choose a newer gcc version if we only go for 15.5
