package coot (see home:hsk17:science:coot/coot, intended to be submitted to science) still needs fftw-2.x, i.e. package fftw, to build and run. is it possible to copy or link KDE:KDE3/fftw to science/fftw ?

Sorry, see comment, but thanks for the packaging effort.
Sorry, fftw(2) was last updated in 1999. We would rather not have such archaic versions of packages in obs://science. If a package in 2023 depends on fftw(2), perhaps that does not belong here either. Thanks for the packaging effort, but one simply cannot be assured that a library so old --- and anything depending on it --- is not riddled with security issues.
@Ansus, @Beineri, @belphegor_belbel, @samelian: review reminder
Also, coot does not actually require fftw2, it requires clipper which requires an fft implementation. The clipper in openSUSE uses a fallback implementation.
seems this is unfortunately no longer true - the recent MoleculesToTriangles code has direct usage of fftw2
