is the new package a drop-in replacement for the one? if not (istm it's not), it shouldn't provide PyPAM
I thought it would be but I can't find a proof for that so I will just submit it as it's own package
hm, if I should submit as its own package I don't know how it should be called. Are you saying that I should just delete the line "Provides: PyPAM"?
i'd prefer using this name and just dropping the PyPAM line.
but some packages depend on this one. namely: xen, cinnamon, python-Twisted
we can probably afford to break cinnamon and Twisted, but i'd be wary of xen. Fortunately, they don't seem to actually need it
ah, no. i take everything back.
the right name for this package is python-python-pam because it exists on pypi. in that case also please use pypi url for the source, not the github one

also the cmdline examples probably shouldn't be in %descriptions

i suspect "provides: python-pam" is wrong. "python-pam" is a different package, this is not a drop-in replacement for it.
