Last request was hanging for 2 months. Is there anything I can do to speedup acceptance of perl 5.28?
I moved perl to a staging of its own - sadly, that mived also the issue from stagung:c, that all builds stall, over.
Since perl is now the only changed package in this staging, we can imply that perl is responsible for these build stalls. Unless we manage to debug this issue and come uo with a fix, perl won't be able to move forward
Did a quick reproduced locally with wdiff (which hangs after less than 1 minute of building)
Using a pstree, I could find out that the process haning is:
so, makeinfo is involved in the hang - let's CC @WernerFink (bugowner of textinfo) and @aspiers (maintainer of texinfo)
Seems makeinfo is not very happy with perl 5.28 just yet (there was a fix checked in recently to make it 'build', but that does not equate to run)
Sounds very much like https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=902771
with our default LANG in OBS (unset); I cancelled after a few seconds, as this process should be very quick
with
export LANG=C.UTF-8
:http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-texinfo/2018-06/msg00032.html
created request id 657158
Tested locally to build wdiff against this patched version of makeinfo, running with perl 5.28 - build completes as expected
Awesome, thank you!
