- Update to version 1.4.1:
* Add more gsettings keys to allow using gsettings overrides
instead of the onboard-defaults.conf file.
- Drop BuildRequires on gettext: not needed any more.
- Drop Requires on gsettings-backend-dconf, and instead require
gsettings-desktop-schemas: the current version works with any
gsettings backend, not only with the -dconf one.
- Remove hashbangs from non-exec files.
- Split out a gnome-shell-extension-onboard package, that provides
integration with gnome-shell.
- Switch to pkgconfig based BuildRequires wherever applicable.
- Make package own some non-standard directories it installs its
sound files to.
- update to version 1.1.2
- update to version 1.1.1
- update to version 1.0.1
- update to version 0.99.0

This is still needed for sane touch input despite a reworked gnome-shell OSK in 3.28, which nonetheless largely preserves most of the major issues from its previous iterations (with open bug reports):

No level 2 inputs possible on XOrg (no capitals, or '@' symbols)
Multiple taps needed for single character input on anything with a dropdown list of suggestions (gnome-weather location selector, firefox address-bar)
Persistence of OSK even when text-field is no longer active
No word completion suggestions.

Onboard has neither of these issues. smh
