Involved Projects and Packages
Maxima is a full symbolic computation program. It is full featured
doing symbolic manipulation of polynomials, matrices, rational
functions, integration, Todd-coxeter, graphing, bigfloats. It has a
symbolic debugger source level debugger for maxima code. Maxima is
based on the original Macsyma developed at MIT in the 1970's. It is
quite reliable, and has good garbage collection, and no memory leaks.
It comes with hundreds of self tests.
myFitter is a C++ class library for maximum likelihood fits and the numerical computation of p-values in likelihood ratio tests.
In some situations the statistical significance (p-value) of a likelihood ratio test can not be computed analytically. This is, for example, the case when some parameters of the model are only allowed to float within a certain range or when the models being compared are not nested, meaning that neither model can be obtained from the other by fixing some of its parameters.
myFitter implements a method for efficient numerical computation of p-values. This method is also applicable in the case of non-nested models.
Plots is a graph plotting app for GNOME. Plots makes it easy to visualise
mathematical formulae. In addition to basic arithmetic operations, it supports
trigonometric, hyperbolic, exponential and logarithmic functions, as well as
arbitrary sums and products. It can display polar equations, and both implicit
and explicit Cartesian equations.
Berkeley Logo interpreter is a free (both senses) interpreter for the Logo
programming language.
WordNet is a large lexical database of English, developed under the direction of George A. Miller. Nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets), each expressing a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by means of conceptual-semantic and lexical relations. The resulting network of meaningfully related words and concepts can be navigated with the browser. WordNet is also freely and publicly available for download. WordNet's structure makes it a useful tool for computational linguistics and natural language processing.
wxMaxima is a GUI for the computer algebra system maxima
based on wxWidgets.
ChessX is a chess database. With ChessX, you can browse, edit and
analyze a collection of chess games.
* Load and save PGN files
* Work with multiple databases simultaneously
* Browse games, including variations
* Enter moves, variations, comments
* Play games in training mode or play out games against an engine
* Setup board, copy/paste FEN, merge games
* Display opening tree for current position
* Analyze using UCI and Winboard/Xboard Chess engines
* Observe and play games on FICS
LTris is a very polished Tetris clone. It is highly configurable due to
its menu. It offers the well-known game type Classic, a funny game type
Figures (a new figure each level, suddenly appearing tiles and lines),
and multiplayer with up to three players either human or CPU
controlled.
LTris2 is a highly configurable, polished, HD-screen ready Tetris clone. It
offers the well-known Classic game, a funny game type Figures (a new figure
each level, suddenly appearing tiles and lines), and multiplayer against up
to two CPU players or human versus human.
SDL2_Pango is a library for graphically rendering internationalized and tagged
text in SDL2 using TrueType fonts. SDL2_Pango is a port of SDL_Pango to SDL2.
Iotas is a simple note taking with mobile-first design and optional speedy
Nextcloud Notes sync.
Mousam is a lightweight weather app. It has the following features:
* Real-time temperature, humidity, wind speed, UV index, pressure and more
* Provide hourly forecasts for the next 24 hours
* Also shows tomorrow and 7-day forcasts
* Supports metric or imperial systems
Wike is a Wikipedia reader for the GNOME Desktop. Provides access to all the
content of this online encyclopedia in a native application, with a simpler and
distraction-free view of articles.
This package provides typing stubs for python-gobject to (typically) allow IDEs
to provide helpful completion guides and documentation about python-gobject
related modules.
Python GTK Spellcheck is a simple but quite powerful spellchecking library for
GTK written in pure Python. Its spellchecking component is based on Enchant and
it supports both GTK 3 and 4 via PyGObject.
Curtail (previously ImCompressor) is an useful image compressor, supporting
PNG, JPEG and WEBP file types. It support both lossless and lossy compression
modes with an option to whether keep or not metadata of images.
dnglab provides a command line tool to convert camera RAW files to Digital
Negative Format (DNG).
jbig2dec is a decoder library and example utility implementing the JBIG2
bi-level image compression spec. Also known as ITU T.88 and ISO IEC
14492, and now included by reference in Adobe's PDF 1.4.
libicns is a library providing functionality for easily reading and
writing Macintosh icns files
libmypaint, a.k.a. "brushlib", is a library for making brushstrokes which is used by MyPaint and other projects.
MyPaint is a fast and easy open-source graphics application for digital painters. It lets you focus on the art instead of the program. You work on your canvas with minimum distractions, bringing up the interface only when you need it.
webp-pixbuf-loader is a plugin to allow loading WebP images in GTK+ applications.
linux-enable-ir-emitter provides support for infrared cameras that are not
directly enabled out-of-the box (at the very least, the kernel must recognize
your infrared camera). It can automatically configure almost any (UVC) infrared
emitter.
