This project provides all kind of multimedia applications. This includes
players for audio and video data, recording and cutting applications.
Audacity is a program that manipulates digital audio wave forms. In
addition to recording sounds directly from within the program, it
imports many sound file formats, including WAV, AIFF, AU, IRCAM, MP,
and Ogg Vorbis. With Audacity, you can edit wave data larger than the
physical memory size of your computer.
guitarix is a simple Linux Rock Guitar Amplifier for jack (Jack Audio Connektion Kit) with one input and two outputs. Designed to get nice thrash/metal/rock/blues guitar sounds. There are controls for bass, middle, treble, gain (in/out), compressor, preamp, tube's, drive, overdrive, oversample, anti-aliase, fuzz, balance, distortion, freeverb, impulse response, vibrato , crybaby(wah) and echo. For 'pressure' in the sound you can use the feedback and feedforward sliders.
Qtractor is an Audio/MIDI multi-track sequencer application written
in C++ around the Qt4 toolkit. The initial target platform will be Linux,
where the Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK) for audio, and the Advanced
Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) for MIDI, are the main infrastructures
to evolve as a fairly-featured Linux Desktop Audio Workstation GUI,
specially dedicated to the personal home-studio.
The aim of Sonic Visualiser is to be the first program you reach for when want to study a musical recording rather than simply listen to it.
This project is a central place for audio, video and image libraries for parsing multimedia data (also known as codecs), tags or containers. It is also a place for multimedia data processing libraries.
Command line utilities without GUI toolkit dependencies can be placed into this project as well. Please don't place end-user GUI based applications here, put them into multimedia:apps. Base your project on packages in this project instead.
This project also serves as development project for packages around this topic in the openSUSE:Factory distribution. If you want to participate you can contact us individually or use our mailinglist opensuse-packaging@opensuse.org. Please report bugs to the respective bugowners as set.
JACK is a low-latency audio server written primarily for the Linux
operating system. It can connect a number of different applications to
an audio device, as well as allow them to share audio between
themselves. Its clients can run in their own processes (as a normal
application), or they can run within a JACK server (as a plug-in).

If your software speaks SS7, ISDN, IAX, RTP, SRTP, Jingle, H.323, H.324, H.325, MGCP or SIP then it probably belongs in here.

This project aims to build newest network tools against stable openSUSE versions
Argus is a network monitoring tool.
Documentation can be found in /usr/share/doc/packages/argus.
Client for Argus network monitoring tool.

GNU Barcode is meant to meet most barcode creation needs with a
conventional printer. It can create printouts for the conventional
product tagging standards: UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, ISBN, as well
as a few other formats. Output is generated in either PostScript or
Encapsulated PostScript format.
Convert is software for converting units from one type to another (over
700 conversions).
Disk-based hashes is a method to create multidimensional binary trees
on disk. This library permits the extension of the database concept to
a plethora of electronic data, such as graphic information. With the
multidimensional binary tree, it is possible to mathematically prove
that access time to any particular record is minimized (using the
concept of critical points from calculus), which provides the means to
construct optimized databases for particular applications.
dbview is a little tool that displays dBase III and IV files. You can
also use it to convert your old .dbf files for further use with Unix.
The Open Visualization Data Explorer is a visualization framework that
gives users the ability to apply advanced visualization and analysis
techniques to their data. These techniques can be applied to help users
gain new insights into data from applications in a wide variety of
fields including science, engineering, medicine, and business.
Garlic is an X Window System tool intended for the molecular
visualization of protein structure, DNA structure, and biological
macromolecules. It reads Brookhaven Protein Database (PDB) files.
gonvert is a conversion utility that allows conversion between many
units, like CGS, Ancient, and Imperial, with many categories, such as
length, mass, and numbers. All converted values are shown at once as
you type. It is easy to add and change your own units.
guitarix is a simple mono amplifier to jack with one input and two
output's. Designed to get nice trash/metall/rock/guitar sounds.
Available are the controls for bass, treble, gain, balance,
distortion, freeverb, impulse response (pre state), crybaby(wah),
feedback/feedforward-filter and echo. A fixed resonator will use,
when distortion is disabled.
guitarix is licensed under GPL.
