Can you apply a patch to stop the annoying subshell warning present on new version of mc?

You can find it on: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/mc/-/blob/master/debian/patches/4056.patch or check the committed change on https://github.com/MidnightCommander/mc/commit/8c243309ccae0528c0b59c2c45cd88d514ccfd90.

Please, do it.

Updated to newer package version, also 2 patches (mc-ext-audio.patch and mc-extd-sound.patch), and removed a patch applied upstream (mc-rpm.patch). Now mc builds appropriately.

See: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:acobar:branches:Base:System/mc

Please, update to save others from the annoying subshell warning.

Can you do a submit request here then?

Илья Индиго's avatar

After that SR https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1153182 mc started requiring python2 (/usr/bin/python).

Is this something that can be fixed?

Adam Mizerski's avatar

Yes. It's already fixed here.

An old problem has reappeared since the last update to 4.8.32. After closing the Midnight Commander, you are not in the last selected directory, but in the directory from which you started the Midnight Commander. After a downgrade to 4.8.31 everything works again. Can you please have a look and restore the old behavior?

Adam Mizerski's avatar

Indeed. I'll try to do something, but I can't promise when.

Eric Schirra's avatar

Okay. That's fine. "No net hudla" :-)

Adam Mizerski's avatar

That was relatively easy, because upstream has already fixes merged for next release :) https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1202757

Eric Schirra's avatar

Just tested. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either.

Adam Mizerski's avatar

The request with my fixes is still waiting for review: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1206702

Eric Schirra's avatar

yes, i know. I have test it from there.

Eric Schirra's avatar

Still does not work. But apparently only not under KDE. Because it works directly under ALT+F1. And under LXDE also. What could be the reason for this? Do you have any idea?

Adam Mizerski's avatar

I have no idea. Desktop environment should have absolutely no impact. First check with "type mc" if it's a shell function, then try "bash -x /usr/share/mc/mc-wrapper.sh".
