Do some of its sub-packages perhaps obsolete ghostscript-fonts-std and/or ghostscript-fonts-other or other font packages? If yes shoudn't then this be specified as RPM "Obsoletes:" entries in the spec file to avoid too many different versions of fonts with same name, cf. https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1074266#c2

Yes, it should be a complete replacement of g-f-std, so in the long term an Obsoletes is the way to go.

Currently, I want to check the differences and may sure there are no regressions, which is easier if the two packages are not conflicting.

Thanks for your explanation. I fully agree to do things step by step.
