I don't see any evidence that builds for Debian_10 have been disabled..how/where did you discover this?

Roland Sommer's avatar

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough (edited already), I was refering to the podman builds. These are marked as "disabled" and there are indeed no builds for podman 3.1 in the repository.

Valentin Rothberg's avatar

Older distros are not receiving packages anymore (see https://podman.io/blogs/2021/03/02/podman-support-for-older-distros.html).

The support matrix grew too big to keep up with all the packaging work. Especially older distros are challenging (e.g., old kernels, old libraries, etc.).

Done. Though something like that should ideally happen automatically.

Stefan, while I understand and share your concerns, I don't see a way for Michel to get this solved by now.

Of course, this is butt ugly, but it's limited on PPC anyway.

Waiting for some undefined amount of time for some infra change isn't the real McCoy either.

@a_faerber @marxin @rguenther @matz2 @dimstar - I have rebased as requested, and I got no feedback there is anything that needs changing.

@a_faerber - apparently you have either lost interest in maintaining newlib, or lack the time to do so. Anyway, please consider stepping down as a maintainer.

@dimstar: any feedback from you would be appreciated.

Dominique Leuenberger's avatar

Wow - 2 months; sorry for you having to wait that long.

To me, it looks like promoting you to a new/additional maintainer makes sense. for one, you know well what you're doing and you also follow up on issues when they arise. So it can only be a win-win

As for the SR specifically: Looks all right to me (I'd probably drop pre-checkin.sh entirely; format_spec_file is an implicit service run on Factory devel projects anyway on check-in - and the real meat is out of the script now)

@a_faerber - without reaction from you by EOD (20210219) I'll consider this SR acceptable and grant Stefan maintainer right (yes, I know, this is a short deadline; but the SR was ignored for 2 months)

I just try using cinnamon with latest update from here in VM, some settings are missing like printer software manager, etc. Is this normal? Not sure if it suppose to be missing.

slb's avatar

No.

"'xdg-su', '-c', '/sbin/yast2 printer'" should be just "xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2 printer". No punctuations at all.

actually, my bad - the version is simply not there in the package in TW - that its only in the devel package...

It is added to TW in this SR for php8 and will be in the SR for php-7.4.15 next week. But the Conflicts: php < %{version} in this SR should also prevent zypper from inintended upgrades from php7 to php8.

I know, but unfortunately cherry picking that pull request resulted in a non-trivial amount of conflicts :-(

If you feel like going through with backporting it, you are most certainly welcome and can submit a pull request to https://github.com/dcermak/rstudio/tree/opensuse_patches. But I'm afraid I don't have the time for that.

Thank you. I have try pythonhosted, but not find the right link. I don't like _service File. Will try it tomorrow. But think it takes some time till new version will be accepted.

Can not build because sip5 (python-sip) is needed, which does not exists in openSUSE. Highest version from pyth-sip in use is 4.19.24. In pkgs.org I see this is also the highest version in all other distros. Don't know why upstream must use the new version. Whereat the stable version is 5 and version 4 will no longer supported. But stable version 5.4.0 can not downloaded. Only version 5.5.0dev.

The source for 15.1 MUST NOT come from Factory. For Leap 15.1, VB was never updated to VB 6.1.X, which is the version used by TW and Leap 15.2. Leap 15.1 uses VB 6.0.X.
